A safe, compassionate space and an approach tailored to you.

At times, life brings unexpected challenges that leave us confused, unsure of how to react, what to think, or how to make sense of our emotions. These things can be difficult to manage alone, and we can feel lost. Often our present challenges stem from past traumatic experiences, and, unless we work through and process them, they may continue to surface in our current lives. That’s where Expressive Self Psychotherapy can help.

Our Mission at Expressive Self, is to find the best way for you to be able to express how you’re feeling, connect with the problem and change your relationship with it, allowing you to heal and be the best version of yourself. Having a positive therapeutic experience can be transformational and that’s our hope for you!

Expressive Self Psychotherapy Therapies

For some people it may be too tough to talk about past or current experiences, and perhaps a more creative approach would allow you to engage with the issue. Maybe you feel the need to (re) connect with your body to support your mental health and wellbeing. For others talking about a problem in a safe and secure space with someone who cares, is exactly what is needed. And sometimes (most of the time) it’s a blend of all of the above!

At Expressive Self, we can tailor a therapeutic approach to meet your needs, at your pace. We provide inclusive therapy for adults from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Knowing oneself comes from compassionate curiosity to what’s happening within. - Dr Gabor Maté
About me

Hi I’m Cat, Psychotherapist and Founder at Expressive Self Psychotherapy. A warm welcome to you!

I am an Arts Psychotherapist (Dramatherapist) and a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT). I offer these forms of therapy alongside an Integrative Approach. This means I am trained in, and can draw upon, different modalities in my therapeutic practice to fully support and embrace your individual journey and needs. My practice centres on therapy through a trauma-informed lens. I recognise how trauma can affect someone’s mental, physical, emotional, social or spiritual wellbeing.

I strongly believe in the importance of a good relationship match when finding a therapist. For therapy to be effective, you need to trust your therapist! I also believe therapy can be used for personal growth and is an important aspect of maintaining good mental health. I’m delighted you have taken that first step and found Expressive Self Psychotherapy, let’s embark on this next phase together.
